Acrylic on cotton canvas,
100 x 120 x 4 cm,
by Anthony Walker
About the work:
Hyper-realism acrylic painting of a chimpanzee on stretched cotton canvas.
Whilst painting this amazing animal, I aimed to capture him in deep contemplative thought.
I added some 22 carat gold leave to the bottom left corner and to the stick he has in his hand to compliment the tonal values of the painting. This is what ended up causing me to come up with the name ‘Midas’, after the story of king Midas as everything he touched turned to gold.
